Hey! Nice to meet you!

So you're starting off in this amazing career of photography.

You probably did what I did starting off, watched one million webinars on how everyone turned their small business into a Six Figure Business, and listened to a lot of people tell you that this is a difficult business to thrive in because it's "Over Saturated"

Here's one thing they did say that I know to be true: Anyone can buy a camera and call themselves a photographer.

But what makes you different?

That's where I struggled the most. What did make me different? The photographs I take? My captions on Instagram? Using the #fineart on my bio?

There was one thing I had to tell myself that got me through the beginning of my career, and I'll tell you now: There are no two identical eyes taking a picture.

So here is where I give you the best advice I never got:

  1. Let other Photographer's work inspire you, not make you self conscious.

This is always easier said than done, because we live in such a comparative world. But it's true, no portfolio will ever look the same, and that's where your strength lies. You can always be sure that your vision will always be your own. Think of a picture that inspires you, a picture that you looked at and said, "wow! I want to take a picture like this." Notice how you said "like," you didnt say let me copy this picture to a T. You'll always have your own unique perspective on every shot! So once you realize this, you begin to realize that there is nothing to compare when they are two different visions and two different sets of eyes.

2. Get to Learn your Camera.

That's right! You want to make this your career? Then it's time to take the dial off of Auto, and onto Manual. Getting to know your equipment I believe is the most important step in making this your career, and also taking away some of the anxiety out of your sessions. The reason I say that is because when your confident that you'll get a good shot, with no haze, and just the right amount of Exposure, that makes you start the session in a better mood and leave the session feeling much more fulfilled with the work done.

3. Figure out what you enjoy Photographing.

Photography can be a business that can bring you a lot of success, but it's still a job. And no one wants to be stuck in a job they hate. "Do what you love and you never have to work a day in your life." I always recommend trying out the different types of photography out there, and once you find what you enjoy and your niche, you'll be unstoppable. And not only that, but when you loved what you do, it shows in your work. And the quality lof your work will be incomparable.
